Abstract

In fact, education requires the latest innovations to build higher education in accordance with current conditions. Innovation can be carried out massively if there is an investment of ideas and concepts to advance higher education in competition and supply. Strategy formulation is the first step to make this happen. This article discusses the steps and all matters related to strategy formulation using a phenomenological approach and a type of qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interview techniques, participant observation, and documentation studies. This research was conducted at the Kediri State Islamic Institute. The formulation of the strategy carried out by the IAIN Kediri studied began with formulating the vision and mission of the institution by conducting an analysis of the internal and external environment, formulating the goals and targets of the institution and formulating the organizational strategy of the institution..
