Abstract

Islam is a religion that is friendly to the environment. Many teachings in the Al-Quran and the Hadith that command to protect the environment from damage. One of the environments that must be maintained is land. This study mean to determine how to preserve the perspective of the Al-Quran and Hadith, the response of Islamic law to the use of chemicals in agriculture, the response of Islamic law to the use of manure in agriculture in order to realize the preservation of the soil and the environment. This study uses literature and conceptual studies. The author traces the nature of soil conservation and Islamic legal perspective on the use of chemicals and manure in agriculture in the books of commentary, hadith and fiqh. Based on the analysis that has been done it can be concluded that in general the Al-Quran commands the preservation of the environment and land. The Koran forbids the destruction of land. Destruction of the environment and land is forbidden. While the preservation of land according to the hadiths is by way of management, greening and ihya` al-mawat. The use of chemicals in agriculture can bring benefits and mafsadat. But the interpretations that arise are greater than the benefits. Therefore, its use must be minimized or not use it at all by looking for other alternatives that are more environmentally friendly, one of which is by using manure. The use and sale of manure for agricultural needs according to some scholars is permissible. Manure is an environmentally friendly material
